Horticulture for Therapy, Rehabilitation and Well-Being Time: 8:00am - 4:00pm CST Location: Huntsville Botanical Garden, 4747 Bob Wallace Ave. More info: Janet Szofran at 256-883-6563 This two day workshop explores how Gardening can be used as a therapeutic tool for many different populations, including those with physical and mental disabilities. Participants may attend either one or two days. On Day One, participants will learn about the benefits of horticultural therapy and apply some basic HT techniques. Day Two will focus specifically on adapting HT to specific populations, including how to make gardens accessible to the disabled. The workshop will be led by Rebecca Haller, director of the Horticultural Therapy Institute in Denver. A past president of the American Horticultural Therapy Assocation, she currently teaches HT classes at Colorado State University. Registration fee of $150 for 2 days, $100 for one day includes lunch, snacks, materials and a certificate of attendance. CEU credits are available for counselors and social workers.
