Meet This Month’s Community Superhero: Beth Jackson
In all communities, there are individuals who give of their time, energy, and passion to spark positive change. Often working behind the scenes, these individuals address topics many would prefer to overlook and inspire others to join in their efforts. Beth Jackson, Community Education Program Manager and Therapist at the National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) carries all aspects of what it means to be a “Community Superhero”.
As a child, Beth had dreams of becoming an artist. It wasn’t until her freshman year of high school that she completed a sociology class leading her to fall in love with the field of social services. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology then later decided to obtain her master’s degree in counselling psychology from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University.
During the two decades Beth has served the NCAC, she’s played a variety of roles. Whether it’s teaching SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect) classes in local school systems, giving presentations on internet safety and cyber bullying, or providing therapy to children receiving services through NCAC, Beth works tirelessly to not only help those who have been victimized but to also prevent abuse from happening to others.
“It is so exciting to see a concept finally click with a parent or a child in therapy.” said Beth.
In fact, this is the most rewarding part of her job and is what keeps her passion for child advocacy alive. The impact on children and families that Beth has made during her time at the NCAC is inspiring and everlasting. The National Children’s Advocacy Center is incredibly proud to call Beth one of our own and are honored to be able to share her story alongside Redstone Federal Credit Union.
